Discover Early Profitability Strategies with Cambly and Benchmark on TechCrunch Live
We’re thrilled to announce the return of TechCrunch Live (TCL) for its third season. The event series has been a huge success in the past, and we’re excited to bring it back with a new set of engaging episodes.
Join us for our first episode with Benchmark and Cambly
Our first episode is scheduled to take place on February 1, 2023, at 11:30am PT / 2:30pm ET. We have an exciting lineup of guests, including Sameer Shariff, CEO and co-founder of Cambly, and Sarah Tavel, a long-time investor at Benchmark.
Meet our Guests
Sameer Shariff – Co-Founder & CEO, Cambly
Sameer will share his experiences on how Cambly navigated the challenges of fundraising. Despite failing to raise a Series A, the company had to change its model overnight and found ways to make a profit to keep the doors open. We’ll discuss the lessons he learned from both rounds of funding.
Sarah Tavel – Investor, Benchmark
Sarah will talk about what made Cambly a perfect fit for Benchmark’s investment. She’ll also share her insights on why Cambly was an ideal candidate for Benchmark’s portfolio.
Key Questions
I have some questions that I’d like to ask our guests:
- How did the company’s mindset change following the failure to raise a Series A, and how did the founders keep the team focused and on target?
- What steps should founders take when seeking profitable growth before raising venture capital?
- Cambly is a unique marketplace. How did the company initially acquire customers, and when did it outgrow and replace the strategy for scale?
- There are countless language learning marketplaces and services. What metrics led Benchmark to lead a Series B investment in Cambly?
