Yext Introduces Enterprise-Focused Chatbot Yext Chat Leveraging Generative Artificial Intelligence Technology
In a move to capitalize on the growing interest in generative AI, Yext, a platform for online brand management, has announced an AI-powered chatbot called Yext Chat. Inspired by OpenAI’s ChatGPT, Yext Chat is designed specifically for enterprise use cases and boasts several key differentiators that set it apart from other chatbots.
A Better Way to Harness Large Language Models
According to Marc Ferrentino, President and Chief Operating Officer of Yext, "ChatGPT has shown the world that large language models can hold incredibly coherent, helpful conversations — far better than any technology up to this point. But right now there is no easy way for enterprises to harness this technology." To address this gap, Yext Chat aims to provide a more comprehensive solution for enterprise customers.
How Yext Chat Differs from Other Chatbots
While other chatbots may rely on a single model, like Jasper Chat, Yext Chat uses a combination of text-generating models for different tasks within its workflow. This includes marketing, commerce, and customer support. Moreover, unlike some rival solutions that draw from a web-scale corpus of information, Yext Chat only generates responses using a curated set of content that businesses manage in the Yext Knowledge Graph.
The Importance of Data Curation
Yext’s approach to data curation is critical in ensuring that chatbots provide accurate and relevant responses. "Businesses need to have control over the answers that a chatbot is returning — they need to be able to update information in real-time and improve any bad answers," Ferrentino explains. To achieve this, Yext Chat limits its responses to data within the Yext Knowledge Graph, which can be easily updated by businesses.
Avoiding Misinformation
Another motivation for Yext’s data curation approach is to prevent misinformation. With many chatbots relying on external sources of information, there is a risk that incorrect or outdated data may be used in responses. By limiting its responses to curated content within the Yext Knowledge Graph, Yext Chat minimizes this risk.
A More Carefully Considered Approach
Yext’s approach to AI-powered chatbots seems more carefully considered than most. While no solution is perfect, Yext’s emphasis on data curation and business control over responses provides a more reliable and trustworthy experience for customers.
What’s Next?
After a closed beta, Yext plans to launch Yext Chat later this year. With its combination of text-generating models and data curation approach, Yext Chat is poised to become a leading solution for enterprise chatbot use cases.
