Gen Z-focused investment app Alinea raises $3.4 million and prepares for AI-powered ‘copilot’ feature launch
A Fintech App Born Out of Necessity
In the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic, two young women, Anam Lakhani and Eve Halimi, co-founded Alinea Invest, a fintech app designed specifically for Gen Z women. This innovative platform aims to bridge the financial literacy gap and provide users with AI-powered wealth management tools.
From Wall Street to Fintech
Lakhani and Halimi’s journey began on Wall Street, where they both interned in investment banking. However, they faced a common pain point – they didn’t know how to best invest their own money. This frustration led them to create a business plan for an app while taking an entrepreneurship class at school. Later, the founders headed into full-time jobs in investment banking and at a growth-stage startup when COVID hit.
The pandemic ultimately freed up more time for the team to work on their app, so they applied to startup accelerator Y Combinator in 2021 and got in. "The pain point we saw is that people like us who are young women, Gen Zs, children of immigrants, they have no idea where to start," notes Lakhani. "Financial literacy is a massive pain point across the United States."
Building a Fintech Platform for the Future
Alinea Invest’s mission is to make investing more accessible and user-friendly for Gen Z women. The app offers a range of features, including:
- AI-powered investment advice: Alinea’s AI engine analyzes users’ risk tolerance, financial goals, and investment horizon to provide personalized investment recommendations.
- Easy portfolio management: Users can track their investments, receive real-time updates, and rebalance their portfolios with ease.
- Education and resources: The app offers educational content, webinars, and workshops to help users improve their financial literacy.
A $3.4 Million Boost for Expansion
Alinea Invest recently secured $3.4 million in seed funding from top-tier investors, including F7 General Partner Kelly Graziadei. "Financial literacy and investing is a crucial path to wealth and financial stability for women and Gen Z," said Graziadei. "We are proud to invest in Eve and Anam as they build AI-powered investing with Alinea – making it easier and more accessible than ever for people to invest according to their interests and values."
The funding will be used to further develop the platform, enhance personalization features, and expand educational initiatives.
A New Era in Fintech
Alinea Invest’s success marks a significant milestone in the fintech industry. By addressing the financial literacy gap and providing user-friendly investment tools, the app is poised to revolutionize wealth management for Gen Z women. As Lakhani and Halimi continue to innovate and push boundaries, Alinea Invest is undoubtedly a name to watch in the fintech space.
